What types of services does a downsizer offer?

Downsizing and decluttering services, packing and unpacking clients who relocate to retirement homes and clearing our estates when someone passes away are the main services. Some downsizers prefer to specialize offering only specific services while others offer the full range of services.

What type of previous experience do I need?

You don’t need previous experience to become a Certified Downsizing PRO. People from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences enter into this field. Many people, myself included, started their businesses because of their own personal experience of downsizing a family member. This course will teach you everything you need to know.

What qualities are important in a downsizing professional?

I would say that a desire to help seniors is key. Of course, honesty, integrity and patience are also important qualities to have.

What if I have no experience running a business?

I have included a business course that will give you a step-by-step approach to starting your own business. I have been a business owner for over 30 years and am happy to share my knowledge with you.

Could I start an organizing business without taking this class?

Yes of course you could, I started my business from scratch. But you can learn from my knowledge and from my mistakes. This course is comprehensive and covers all aspects of a downsizing business, no need to search for all the answers.

Is there a demand for these services?

Yes! Approximately 12,000 Americans transition into the 65-and-over age group daily. In a recent poll, more than 50% of baby boomers said they were strongly considering moving to a senior living community within the next four to five years. The need for downsizing services and specialized expertise in senior relocation cannot be overstated.

How long does it take to complete the class?

Some people complete the course in a weekend, others take more time. Once you purchase the class, the materials are yours to keep, you can learn at your own pace. I recommend that you review the material multiple times as you develop your business so that you fully absorb the information.

How much does it cost to start a downsizing business?

Creating a successful senior downsizing business doesn’t require a huge amount of money or equipment to get up and running. It does require commitment, work ethic and learnable skills. But understand that any business will require a certain amount of money to cover essential start-up expenses.

Do I need to rent business space?

No, you don’t. This business can be created and run from a home office, which allows you to taking advantage of certain tax breaks.

What if I need help after I start my business?

There will be regular Zoom calls (at no charge) with Diane Levenson, the course creator, where you can get your questions answered as well as hear from others who have completed the course. You can also (for a fee) have one-to-one coaching sessions with Diane.

Can I get a refund after I purchase Downsizing PRO?

All sales are final. All course resources are immediately available following your purchase.
